ExxonMobil has awarded Conti another contract to provide further environmental remediation at its Bayway Refinery in Linden, New Jersey. This $14 million project is the sixth Conti has been awarded recently to help clean up the global oil and gas distributor’s contaminated sites.
Expected to run from June 2015 to December 2016, Conti’s work at the 1,300-acre refinery will include excavations, groundwater treatment, steel sheet pile installation and stone and geomembrane landfill capping at three sites throughout the Bayway Refinery Complex: a diesel tank field, a creek dredging area and a conservation area. The team will be remediating the effects of years of spills, releases from sewer lines, leaking pipes from underground tanks, discharges to surface water and the disposal of contaminated waste in an on-site landfill.
Conti has been providing similar remediation services to ExxonMobil since 2012, including upgrading stormwater handling and bioslurp systems and investigating and capping landfills. The firm plans to continue providing these services to help one of the foremost distributors of oil and gas in the United States operate more cleanly and efficiently.
